​I'm Bethany Barry, a Certified Postpartum Doula living in Ludington, Michigan. After my own experience as a parent with a NICU baby (16 years ago!), I felt led to the nursing profession.

 

Now, with years of experience as a NICU nurse and a background in pediatric and postpartum nursing, I bring a lot of expertise and empathy to postpartum families. I got my associate degree in nursing from Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois, I'm a registered nurse in Michigan and also work as a pediatric private duty nurse in addition to being a postpartum doula. This way, I get to keep up my clinical skills and mix in my love for helping families. I'm also working towards becoming a lactation counselor because I believe in always learning and growing.

 

As a mother and postpartum doula, I see the postpartum period as a sacred and transformative time. It's a season of welcoming new life, offering unconditional love, and supporting each other through the joys and challenges of early parenthood. For families with NICU babies, this period can be even more intense as they deal with the worry and stress of their baby's medical needs while trying to form those early connections. Whether a family has a NICU baby or not, my goal is to help parents feel confident and supported, knowing they are never alone in this journey. 

When I'm not working, I love enjoying Michigan's beautiful summers. You can often find me mountain biking, paddle boarding, or doing functional fitness. I also have a passion for making sourdough bread. Even with all these activities, my favorite role is being a mom and caring for my family.
